Pierre Soulages
Pierre Soulages (born 24 December 1919) is a french painter, engraver, and sculptor. Born in Rodez, Aveyron, in 1919, Soulages also is known as "the painter of black" because of his interest in the colour, "...both a colour and a non-colour. When light is reflected on black, it transforms and transmutes it. It opens up a mental field all of its own". He sees light as a matter to work with; striations of the black surface of his paintings enable him to make the light reflect, allowing the black to come out from darkness and into brightness, thereby becoming a luminous colour.

Aosoth - "Ritual Marks of Penitence"
From Aosoth's latest album "An Arrow In Heart" (2013). Most black metal music videos consist of a bunch of sad bufoons running around in the woods looking like pandas, but this one is an entirely different beast. Truly amazing black metal art!

Instant Zéro - "Comme un Chien"
"Des scènes insoutenables et révoltantes. Destruction, viol,
infanticide, violence parentale, pédophilie, suicide : une description
implacable des tabous d’une société rongée par la perversité humaine."

Ananda - "Machine"
From the album "Profane" (2000). Next level metalcore/grind from this very unknown (now defunct) french band, Ananda. Think of a more metallic Nostromo, or a more hardcore-ish Starkweather, with a slight tech death influence (Gorguts comes to mind). I was extremely happy to find this masterpiece again, years after loosing it. 13 motherfucking years later it's still putting most of the (past and present) metalcore stuff to shame. The album is long out of print and extremely hard to find so I put up a download link for you mofos. Enjoy.

Stagnant Waters - Algae
Stagnant Waters is an international project featuring Zweizz (Fleurety, Umoral, ex-Dødheimsgard) on vocals and some french dudes from Normandy. Totally insane and psychedelic avant-garde/industrial black metal, probably some of the best shit released in the genre since Dodheimsgard's masterpiece 666 International. Check them out and get their album at Adversum records.
